The emotional proclamation of Inocencia Duarte, one of the first residents of the neighborhood, kicked off this Thursday the Patron Saint Festivities in honor of San Francisco Javier.
With the assistance of the Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Víctor Sanginés, and numerous neighbors, family and friends, the grandson and great-grandson of Inocencia Duarte were in charge of reading the endearing speech of the town crier, where she recalled her experiences in the neighborhood after leaving her native Femés.
With the sound of the timple in the background and the viewing of several photographs of the time that illustrated passages of the life of Inocencia Duarte in San Francisco Javier, the entire history of this beloved resident of this capital neighborhood was outlined.
After reading the proclamation, the town crier was given various details by the La Bufona Neighborhood Association, organizer of the festivities, as well as by her family members, who were also very excited.
