The Tías City Council has managed to find a rental home for the family that, with three girls aged 3, 6 and 9, will be evicted this Friday in Puerto del Carmen, although they will have to move to Arrecife. "I wanted a house in Puerto del Carmen, because my daughters go to school here, but there was nothing," said the father of this family, Ali El Ouad, who nevertheless acknowledges that it is "better than nothing".

"We have contacted a real estate agency and in principle this is what we have," explained the Councilor for Social Services of Tías. "It is not what we wanted, because there are five people, girls who were born here and who we did not want to lose their roots with Puerto del Carmen, which is where they have their school and so on, but it is impossible to relocate them in Puerto del Carmen," he pointed out

"In the municipality, in general, we try, but there is nothing. And we have cases like these every day, what happens is that this one is special because there are minors and the other option that remained was to pay the parents a pension or whatever and separate them from the girls, but that was something extreme," added Saavedra.

The City Council will pay the deposit and the first month

In addition, Nicolás Saavedra has stated that the rent "is not 100 percent closed" and that "other options are being sought in case it does not go well", although he is confident that there will be no problems. However, according to what he explained, the family will not be able to access the house until February 2, because the real estate agency has asked for time "to paint and fix up the apartment". However, the Councilor for Social Services has confirmed that the family will not be left on the street when they are evicted this Friday.  "They will be at a sister-in-law's house until the 1st," he indicated.

Regarding the house that has been found for them, Saavedra pointed out that "it is small", that "it only has one room" and that the price amounts to 500 euros. "But it is a roof," added the Councilor of Tías, who stated that the City Council is "going to contribute the deposit for the first month.

"Because we are lucky that the man started working a month ago," said Nicolás Saavedra, who stated, however, that the City Council will remain "pending that the basic needs are covered" and that they will continue "helping them in whatever is necessary". "But in principle we are going to contribute that, until the man can see himself a little relieved and pay the rent normally," he indicated.

The family had accumulated a debt "of five years"

Regarding the debt that the family had accumulated and for which they will be evicted from Puerto del Carmen, the Councilor for Social Services explained that it was "of five years". "The issue was that the owner died and that the man says that he could not deposit because the account was blocked, that no one claimed it for a long time and, although it was a low rent of 300 euros, when they did it was a fortune that he could not pay," he said.

Thus, the heirs urged the eviction, which will take place in Alegranza street in Puerto del Carmen, in the area known as "Los Volcanes". An area where the councilor says that there have been "many evictions" in the last two years, because "they are renovating them for vacation rentals".
