This Saturday, the eve of San Juan, will be remembered for a lifetime by little Diego Agustín. Today he has seen his dream come true and has made his first dive in the waters of Puerto del Carmen. The disability he suffers in his legs has not prevented him from enjoying this adventure and entering the beautiful seabed of Playa Chica de La Tiñosa, one of the great diving destinations in the European Union.

Diego, who has been accompanied by his family, has been one of the several people who this Saturday morning have had their marine baptism thanks to the initiative launched by the Tías City Council, through the Department of Tourism, for the celebration of San Juan Day.

Among the more than 12 hours of fun and entertainment for this Saturday, 23rd, the eve of the San Juan festival, the Tías City Council had programmed a series of dives for those people who wished to start in the underwater world, including some special ones for people with reduced mobility or who suffer from some disability.

The special and voluntary collaboration of the members of the Lanzarote Underwater Activities Club (CAS Lanzarote) made these underwater baptisms possible in Playa Chica. People with reduced mobility or with disabilities were also able to take advantage of this activity. The City Council and Cas Lanzarote enabled special logistics so that they could fulfill their dreams and have a diving or scuba diving experience. The transfer to the tide has been carried out with one of the amphibious chairs that the Department of Beaches of the Tías City Council has for all the beaches of the Puerto del Carmen coastline. The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, an experienced diver, has also been present this morning in this activity and has collaborated and helped people in their dives in front of the Pila de la Barrilla.

The Tías City Council scheduled more than 12 continuous hours of beach activities for the enjoyment of the whole family for this Saturday, June 23. The eve of San Juan will conclude in La Tiñosa tonight with a large popular sardine barbecue, the great San Juan bonfire and the night of revelry with the performances of El Golpito and Pal´porrón in the esplanade next to Playa Chica, on the Paseo de la Pila de la Barrilla. The Departments of Tourism and Festivals of the Tías City Council, respectively, have programmed multiple activities from 11:30 am this Saturday.

The Department of Tourism of Tías, under the direction of the Deputy Mayor Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, programmed, with the collaboration of the Lanzarote Underwater Activities Club, a campaign to clean the seabed between 11 am and 12 noon, in the area of the Pila de la Barrilla and Playa Chica.
