The Municipal Theater of Tías will host the performance of the musical 'Evita' by the Chéspir company this weekend, on Friday and Saturday, at 9 p.m.
Chéspir has opted this time for one of the masterpieces of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, which freely narrates the life of the former wife of Argentine President Juan Domingo Perón, considered by her compatriots the spiritual leader of the country and who will be played by Gloria Sepúlveda. Accompanying the protagonist are José Manuel Clar, stage director, who will give life to the narrator of the story in a recreation of Che Guevara, and Jeroboam Tejera, who will give voice to General Perón. In addition, there is a chorus of 25 voices, directed by Javier Clar, and a dance corps, with choreographer Reinier Alfonso at the head.
The orchestra, composed of ten musicians, is directed by Mauro Fariña, who describes a score "harmonically and melodically extremely complicated, which makes it so rich at the same time." In addition, the company has expressly taken care of the costumes worn by the artists, especially that of the protagonist, who has a dozen changes in the 22 scenes in which she appears. The lighting is by Shelma Zebensuí.
As it is an amateur group, the members of Chéspir have been rehearsing voices, choreographies and sets for months in what they consider one of the biggest bets of their career, which already adds nine years in the theatrical and musical scene of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands.
Tickets have gone on sale in advance at a price of 20 euros at the BP gas stations in Valterra (Arrecife) and Pdcan in Tías (22 euros at the box office).
The Department of Culture of the Tías City Council, under the direction of the Deputy Mayor, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno, has incorporated this musical performance by a solid conejera company into the cultural program for this autumn.
