The Lanzarote Business Confederation has come out this Monday to defend that "the companies of the different economic sectors that make up the island's economy comply with health protocols" and that this sector "does not represent a source of contagion by Covid-19", following the increase in cases detected in recent weeks both on the island and especially in the rest of the archipelago.
"It is important to appeal to the individual responsibility of the people of Lanzarote", said the president of the CEL, Francisco Martínez, who has asked "to avoid social gatherings and private parties where health measures are not being respected and are giving rise to worrying outbreaks for collective health".
“It is urgent to stop the increase in cases that is being observed in Lanzarote, as the indicators are becoming increasingly negative and this is detrimental to public health and the island's economy. The recovery of the business sector, one of the bases of economic sustenance in Lanzarote, involves guaranteeing health security in our destination, that it is attractive for visitors and residents, and not allowing the paralysis of economic activity again”, says the president.
In this sense, the CEL requests "not only the cooperation of the island's society, but also that public administrations guarantee compliance with the restrictions and take severe measures so that the business community and the citizens of Lanzarote do not suffer the consequences of irresponsibility".
Likewise, it demands that when implementing restrictions in Lanzarote "different indicators than the number of infections are taken into account, such as hospital pressure, so that the measures taken by the regional Executive are not disproportionate and the development of the activity is allowed according to the real health situation of the Island".
