The Carnival festivities in the municipality of San Bartolomé kick off this Saturday, February 7. The presentation of the 'Carnival of Yesterday and Today' will take place on February 7 and the festivities will include the Chinijo Carnival, the Gran Coso Carnavalero and the Burial of the Guachinango.

On Saturday, February 7, at 9:00 p.m., the presentation of the carnival will begin in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park. The event will feature the Grand Musical Opening of the Carnival by several dance schools on the island. Later, there will be performances and presentations by the Batucada Guaychara de Ajei, the Murga-Afilarmónica Las Revoltosas and the children's murgas Guacimetitos and Los Retoñitos.

Children with their costumes and masks will also have their day, with the celebration of the Carnaval Chinijo, on Saturday, February 14, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park. The little ones will be able to enjoy the carnival with inflatables, foam workshops, make-up, children's performances and a costume contest with prizes for the best dressed in the individual, couple and group categories. To do so, they will have to register between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the same park.

On Carnival Tuesday, February 17, the Gran Coso Carnavalero will take place. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with departure from the parking lot of the IES San Bartolomé, touring the streets Avenida Alcalde Antonio Cabrera Barrera, Rubicón, Dolores Ferrer and concluding in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park with the performances of the murgas, batucadas and participating comparsas.  

The planned program will conclude in the municipality on Friday, February 20, starting at 6:00 p.m. That day will take place the Burial of the Guachinango, with a carnival parade in Playa Honda, which will depart from Plaza Santa Elena and tour San Borondón Street, ending at Avenida, at the height of Princesa Ico Street, with the performance of the murgas.

For its part, the City Council of the municipality, through a statement, has invited "all citizens to enjoy the carnival events and dress up or refajarse to experience the carnivals as tradition dictates, especially in the Carnival Parade".
