With the arrival of summer and the increase in temperatures, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its Occupational Risk Prevention Area, has issued a series of recommendations aimed at all the Institution's staff, especially those who perform their duties outdoors or in environments exposed to the sun.

The President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has underlined the importance of "guaranteeing the health and well-being of our workers during the hottest months", urging them to follow the guidelines set by the prevention technicians.

Among the main recommendations, constant hydration stands out. It is advisable to always have fresh water available and drink small amounts every 15 to 20 minutes, even if you are not thirsty. Regarding the organization of work, the Institution recommends to its employees that the most demanding tasks should be carried out first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon, avoiding the central part of the day when the heat is most intense. In addition, in case of orange alert for high temperatures, it is recommended to stop activities in the sun.

Regarding personal protection, it is essential to wear a cap or hat, sunglasses and breathable clothing. Likewise, breaks should be scheduled in cool or shaded places, in order to avoid overheating of the body. On the other hand, workers should be especially attentive to signs of heat stroke such as headache, excessive fatigue or muscle cramps.

The Councilor for Human Resources of the Cabildo, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, has stressed that these recommendations are not only a matter of regulatory compliance, but of respect and care for those who provide service to citizens every day, often in adverse conditions
