At the souk of the portico of the church of Ntra. Sra. de Guadalupe in Teguise and a few meters from where the sculpture in homage to the cultural group of the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise is located, the protocol act of the discovery of the sculpture dedicated to the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise began this Monday.
The officiating chronicler, Francisco Hernández was in charge of making a semblance about the roots and tradition that the Rancho de Pascuas has not only in Teguise but throughout the Canary Islands. His chronicle was completed with the projection of a video in which some passages of the Rancho were collected. Act followed, the Councilor for Culture, Olivia Duque and the Mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort took the floor - Both agreed to continue fulfilling the objectives that they had set when they were part of the municipal government group, to ensure that Teguise is recognized as "Cultural Capital of Lanzarote".
The sculptor and author of the work, Rigoberto Camacho Pérez, was very satisfied with the work done while grateful for having been entrusted with this commission that for him as a Teguise native has followed step by step since his childhood.
Antonio González, director of the Rancho de Pascuas, in his intervention interspersed with emotion, dedicated the act to all those who have preceded him and made it possible to leave them all this cultural legacy that they continue to maintain with such responsibility and sacrifice
Once the interventions were finished, they went to the place where the sculpture is located, which was discovered before the watchful eyes of the public present there. Minutes later, the Rancho de Pascuas performed two themes, ending with the traditional shepherd's jump or foot-kiss to whom the sculpture is dedicated.
