Julia Otero, one of the most recognized radio journalists in the national scene, performed her program Julia en la Onda, from Onda Cero, at Jameos del Agua this past Tuesday on the occasion of the Lanzarote Film Festival.
Otero and her team of collaborators began their live program praising the beauty of the Jameos amphitheater. The event, held in the auditorium inside a volcanic tube, brought together a large number of followers of the program, political figures from Lanzarote and from the world of culture and communication around its broadcast. Between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., the entire country was able to listen from Lanzarote to the usual review of national current affairs.
"The most impressive radio studio we have ever set foot in," Otero revealed at the beginning of the program.
The public attending the event had the opportunity to see how one of the most successful programs on Spanish radio is produced and to put a face to Julia Otero, as well as other classic voices of the program such as the screenwriter Nuria Torreblanca, the environmentalist José Luis Gallego or the journalist Guillem Zaragoza.
In the direction of the program, Otero set the pace of the program with the Canary time and "one more hour in the peninsula". The special combined regular spaces with detailed documentation on current affairs in Lanzarote. Among them, the footprint of Manrique, immigration or the debate on tourist degrowth.
The CEO of the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT), Ángel Vázquez, participated in it, who took advantage of his participation in the program to talk about the main virtue of César Manrique's work, who "humanized nature", as well as the importance of creating higher quality tourism and increasing the price policy of the centers.
Vázquez also pointed out a tourist profile, which the environmentalist José Luis Gallego described as "the tiktoker". This type of tourist damages the environment and is not aware of the damage they generate in the places they visit.
After that, the director of the Lanzarote Film Festival, Javier Fuentes Feo, the project that brought Julia en la Onda to Lanzarote for the first time, spoke. In this case, the director explained that this year's exhibition deals with emigration, a topic of local interest, but using works from other parts of the world that deal with the same theme.
To conclude, Julia Otero also interviewed the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, who stressed the importance of finding a fair distribution of the protected migrant minors, highlighting that the island does not have sufficient means to unilaterally manage their reception. Betancort also spoke about the importance of increasing tourist spending per tourist instead of growing in the number of visitors.
After that, the journalist Pablo González Batista returned one more week to Julia en la Onda, this time in the company of the musician and producer Alejandro Acosta, who composed the sound environment of the Jameos del Agua during the broadcast of the program.
There was also a space dedicated to nature with the bird specialist Juanjo Ramos, who analyzed the natural wealth of Lanzarote.
To conclude, Elisa Beni, Javier Gallego and Julio Lleonart closed the program in the Cabinet of Julia en la onda debating about degrowth.
