The 2nd grade students of CEIP Antonio Zerolo participated this Wednesday in the staging of a session of the municipal plenary, the main body of debate of the Arrecife institution. An initiative that comes from the Department of Education of the capital's City Council, whose head, Abigail González, was able to follow live the sessions starring the three participating groups.
The first of the plenary sessions began at 9:00 a.m., with the students of 2nd A and continued at 10:00 a.m. with 2nd B and at 11:00 a.m. with 2nd C. All of them were directed by the tutors of the three groups, who explained to Abigail González the previous work that had been done in the classrooms.
“It is important that the youngest children know how the body works in which decisions are made that affect their daily lives, because they are part of society and we should not leave them aside simply because they are children”, said the councilor who congratulated all of them and their teachers for the great work done in the school.
“They have arrived with their homework done, we have had three mayoresses who have known how to do their role very well and an interesting group of councilors who have contributed proposals and voted on initiatives to improve the city”, adds González.
Thus, these councilors, aged 7 and 8, have made clear what their concerns are and have brought to debate important issues related to education, sports, security, cleanliness, environment or parks and gardens.
Abigail González encourages the rest of the educational centers to join an interesting initiative “from which not only the children learn but also those of us who have in our hands the responsibility of improving Arrecife so that both they and the rest of the population can have the quality of life they deserve”.
