The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has declared a pre-alert situation for rain and storms starting this Thursday at 12:00 in the morning.
Guard technician Jorge Parra reveals that there will be showers or downpours, with frequently heavy and short-lived rainfall, falling from convective clouds, which are characterized by their sudden start and end, and by large and rapid changes in intensity.
Thus, with respect to storms, the General Directorate has reported that there will be probable strong storms on the islands with greater relief, without ruling them out on the more eastern islands. This means the presence of lightning and thunder, as well as locally heavy rainfall and very strong gusts of wind.
In addition, the State Meteorological Agency has reported a yellow warning for rain until Friday. On this day there will be accumulated rainfall of 15 milliliters and with a probability of rain between 10% and 40%, according to Aemet. The warning will end at 11:00 a.m. next Friday.
