The island secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has shown "her regret and that of the entire organization" for the death of her colleague and mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera Lemes.
"I have no words to express the desolation that invades us. As much as this cruel outcome was expected, it is totally impossible to accept Alexis' disappearance", declared Corujo, who also wanted to send a message of condolence to his family: "I share their pain and I shudder to think of the immense void that the loss of Alexis means to them. I can only convey the most sincere affection and love of the socialist family".
"Every loss is irreparable and each one comes with its burden of pain, but the death of such a young, generous person, so full of illusions, is more difficult to bear", expressed the socialist leader.
The PSOE recalls that Alexis Tejera accessed the Mayor's Office of San Bartolomé with an absolute majority after the elections of May 2019, "surrounded by a compact group of councilors who now assume the challenge of giving continuity to his legacy".
In these two short years, the PSOE details that the young mayor "imprinted his personal stamp on the management of the municipality", being recognized "his willingness to personally attend to whoever needed it and his personal involvement to respond to the social problems of the municipality".
Finally, from the PSOE of Lanzarote they have pointed out that his character as a "hardworking and simple person began to take shape during the previous term, as second in command to the previous mayor, María Dolores Corujo, a period that served to make his recognition as successor to the now president of the Cabildo unquestionable".
