The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next June 18 in Arrecife a defendant accused of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepsister in a water park in Lanzarote. The Prosecutor's Office is asking for twelve years in prison for him as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of sexual assault on a minor with carnal knowledge.
The events took place on June 15, 2025. According to the Prosecutor's Office, S.A.M.L. was with his family in a water park on the island, when he allegedly touched the intimate parts of his sister. After that, he sexually assaulted her. The Public Ministry states that he caused physical damage to the minor in the genital area.
The defendant has been in provisional prison since June 18, 2025, exactly one year ago.
The Public Ministry is asking for these twelve years in prison for the defendant, as no circumstance that could modify civil liability is incurred, and points out that he allegedly took advantage of the "fraternal relationship existing between them" to assault her.
The Prosecutor's Office also requests a restraining order, prohibiting him from approaching the minor within 500 meters, as well as her home and any place frequented by her for fifteen years, as well as a prohibition from communicating with her for the same period. In addition, ten years of supervised release, once he has served his prison sentence.
Finally, the Prosecutor's Office requests that he be disqualified from exercising parental authority, guardianship, conservatorship, custody, or foster care for ten years, as well as being disqualified from "any profession, trade, or activities," whether paid or not, that involve contact with minors for twenty years.
If found guilty, he will have to compensate the victim with 25,000 euros for moral damages and 152 for the physical injuries caused.
