Luis Pacual, who was head of the Environment Department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and also director of the Timanfaya National Park, died on March 12 in Cantabria, after years of battling a long illness.
Luis Pascual, a biologist by profession, had been living in Lanzarote for decades. In an initial stage he had already been director of the Timanfaya National Park and then returned to that position a few years ago, where he culminated his career. Before that, he also spent a lot of time at the head of the Environment area of the Cabildo.
"He was an extraordinary professional and a better colleague", say those who spent years working with him, including the current Deputy Minister of Territorial Policy of the Government of the Canary Islands, Leopoldo Díaz, who was head of the PIOT Office and shared many years with Luis Pascual in the Cabildo.
