The rebound in cases that Lanzarote has been suffering since last Thursday has once again placed the island with the highest incidence of Covid-19 in the Canary Islands. In fact, while in Tenerife and Gran Canaria it has been decreasing, on the island of Lanzarote it has skyrocketed - largely due to the outbreak detected in a gym in Arrecife - and has come close to the limit of high risk, which is what marks the entry into alert level 3.
On Sunday, the 7-day incidence exceeded 70 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (high risk starts at 75), although in the last two days it has decreased slightly and this Tuesday it stands at 67.39. However, it is still well above the 51.48 in Tenerife and the 28.17 in Gran Canaria. In El Hierro, which until a few days ago had the worst data in relation to its population, the 7-day incidence has fallen to 8.97. For its part, La Gomera is at 13.84, Fuerteventura at 10.02 and La Palma at 7.19.
As for the 14-day incidence, Lanzarote is already also above the two capital islands, with 114.88 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Tenerife is this Tuesday at 109.63 and Gran Canaria at 66.86. In this case, El Hierro is still in the lead, which at 14 days still has an incidence of 125.59, although the trend of the last week indicates that it will soon reduce that figure, which has already been plummeting in recent days.
Two municipalities at high risk
Meanwhile, in Lanzarote two municipalities have become high risk, and the worst part has been taken by the capital. Arrecife had been improving its data but in the last 7 days it has added 70 positives, which has shot its incidence to 108.28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with almost 42 points more than the island average. Thus, it is at "high risk" (which is between 75 and 125) and on Sunday it came close to "very high" risk.
The worst days were Thursday and Friday of last week, when it added 17 and 15 cases respectively in one day, coinciding with the outbreak reported in the gym. Since then, it has registered 11 cases on Saturday, 11 on Sunday, 5 on Monday and 4 this Tuesday.
The other municipality that has also entered high risk is San Bartolomé, which has registered 16 positives in the last 7 days. In its case, the incidence has risen to 83.77 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Tías and Yaiza are at medium risk. The first has added 6 cases in the last seven days and the second 5, with a significant improvement compared to the previous week. In both municipalities, the incidence in relation to the population is similar, with just over 29 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
For their part, Haría and Tinajo have added one case each in the last week, and are both at low risk, with an incidence of 19 and 15.54. Finally, Teguise is the municipality that has the lowest incidence on the island this Tuesday in relation to its population. And although it has added 3 cases in 7 days (one of them this Tuesday), this represents an incidence of 13.21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
As for the incidence in people over 65 years of age, it is at medium risk this Tuesday in Arrecife, which is the only municipality that has added cases in this age group in recent days.
