Last March 2011, Lanzarote was the destination chosen for the filming of the third episode of "Celebrity Five Go To?", which has been broadcast this week on the British television channel Channel 4, with the aim of promoting the cultural and natural diversity of the destination in the United Kingdom.

Thus, five British celebrities visited Lanzarote between April 19 and 27 and carried out cultural, natural and sports activities, to show the island's offer, outside of what are the tourist centers.

The celebrities stayed in a luxury villa in Puerto Calero and among the activities carried out, they visited the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers and toured La Graciosa "in search of treasure". They also visited a cheese farm, received classes in timple and Canarian wrestling, learned to cook tapas and even made salt carpets.

The celebrities who have participated in this edition of the program are: Rosie Millard (journalist), Derek Acorah (medium and former Liverpool FC footballer), Ken Morley (comedian and actor from the TV series Coronation Street), Bianca Gasgoine (model) and James Redmond (model, comedian and actor from the TV series Casualty)

The program

The one in Lanzarote is the third of the editions made by the program "Celebrity five go to...". The previous episodes were recorded in Turkey and South Africa with a large audience (an average of 1.7 million Britons watched the episode in Turkey).

Channel 4 (Channel 4) has an average audience of 4 million Britons and is broadcast nationwide. According to the Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ástrid Pérez, "it is one of the television channels with the largest audience in the United Kingdom and we must use all the means at our disposal to reach the British market, in this case, that apart from sun and beach we have much more to offer".

The chapters on Lanzarote have been seen on the British television channel every day this week at 12:05 pm. And those who have missed it can also watch them on the [website ->http://www.channel4.com/programmes/celebrity-five-go-to/4od ] for a month from its publication.

Collaboration

Channel 4 contacted the Lanzarote Tourist Board and other Tourist Boards of the Canary Islands in January 2011. After assessing the offer of each of the islands, finally in March 2011 the island of Los Volcanes was chosen as the destination for the filming of the third episode of the series.

Turismo Lanzarote offered them advice and assistance with the activities to be carried out, in order to promote both the natural and cultural aspects of the island.
