The Cruz del Siglo installed in the Islote del Francés already shows its best finery for the day of its anniversary this Saturday, May 3. On this day, lovers of traditions will come to leave their flowers and say a prayer or two. Especially the families of the old sailors who will remember when they said goodbye to their relatives when they enlisted for the coast.

On the day of the Santa Cruz, many Lanzarote residents continue to approach the eve or the same day to those places where they have located a Cruz, whether in the highest part of the mountain, square or nearest street.

Here in Lanzarote, the residents of La Villa de Teguise have the custom of decorating the 14 crosses that are distributed throughout the historic center of the town the night before, a mission entrusted to the different cultural groups of the municipality and schoolchildren, a tradition that despite the years are one of the few traditions that are still maintained in Lanzarote today.
