The area of La Tiñosa in the surroundings of Playa Chica and the Quíquere ravine has been the scene of a day of socio-environmental revitalization organized by the Ecoárea Mardetodos project, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands.

This day had the collaboration of the Ruta Siete Program of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and the Tías City Council.

The Councilor for the Environment, Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, accompanied by the Councilors for Culture and Mobility, Pepa González and Sergio García, welcomed the participants in the Ruta7 Program in El Varadero, a total of 45 students from different Spanish and foreign universities.

The university students had carried out a route interpreted by the tiñosero coast towards the Quíquere ravine and entered the process of creating jolateros or tinplate boats starring the young people of the socio-cultural association Los Burgaos.

The day ended at the El Fondeadero civic center with the celebration of the laboratory of ideas to address the challenges of sustainable tourism in the Canary Islands. The students contributed proposals to promote a tourist activity that respects and preserves the natural and cultural resources of the archipelago.

The Ruta 7 ULPGC Program, recognized for its focus on environmental education and sustainable development, has underlined its commitment to creating tourism that benefits both visitors and local residents.

The Ecoáreas Mardetodos project is a commitment to sustainable and quality tourism based on the conservation of natural and cultural heritage thanks to the promotion of a Canary Network of Coastal Ecotourism Areas. Each eco-area contemplates and analyzes through 40 indicators the environmental, sociocultural, economic and local tourism aspects in cooperation with the administrations.
