The International Day against School Bullying is celebrated on May 2, and the Costa Teguise Secondary Education Institute (IES), in Lanzarote, is organizing the second edition of its conference on emotional health, with the aim of making visible the consequences on students of situations of harassment or bullying, and the fight against youth suicide.
This project, which in its first edition was very well received by the educational and social community of the island, has the collaboration of different associations and public institutions.
The opening of the conference, at 5:00 p.m., will be given by the oral narrator Lorena Curbelo, who will recite a story about mental health, and by the Mutual Aid Group for People Affected by Suicide (GAMAS), which will address the incidence of autolysis in young people.
For her part, the psychologist Sarah Morquecho, from the Neuroverso Association, and the pedagogue María José Martín, from El Cribo, will talk about the effects of bullying on mental health, while high school students will take part in the conference describing how harassment and youth suicide are addressed in the center and conducting a survey on addictions in Lanzarote's youth.
As a closing, a round table in which families and teachers will participate will delve into the importance of mental and emotional health among the youngest.
