On the occasion of the approach of relevant dates for the Blas Cabrera Felipe Institute, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary next year, the educational center and the Mercedes Medina Association will promote a series of commemorative events aimed at the entire society of Lanzarote. As a first activity, next Friday, May 11, two presentations will be held on the figure of the illustrious island scientist, the first at 12 noon aimed at the students of the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe and the second at 8 p.m., with free access, at the Sociedad Democracia.
In addition to the 90th anniversary of the creation of the IES Blas Cabrera, which was born in 1928 in the Charco de San Ginés with the name of Local Institute of 2nd Education, in the 2019/20 academic year the 50th anniversary of the construction of the building that currently houses the educational center will be celebrated. In addition, in 2020 it will be the 75th anniversary of the death of Blas Cabrera Felipe.
The presentations on the illustrious scientist from Lanzarote on May 11 will be given by Leandro Trujillo Casañas, Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Complutense University, assistant professor of the Faculty of Science of the University and postgraduate at the Astrophysical Institute of the Canary Islands, Professor of Physics and Chemistry of Secondary Education at the IES Cabrera Pinto (Director), Coordinator of the Science Museum of the center, Director of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country (2000-2005), member of the Institute of Canarian Studies, member of the Ateneo de La Laguna and a great connoisseur and researcher of the Esperanto language.
