Hundreds of pilgrims honored the Virgen de las Nieves in Teguise

Last Saturday, the Pilgrimage in honor of the Virgen de las Nieves was celebrated, an image that enjoys special veneration in the municipality of Teguise. The pilgrims departed at 5:00 p.m. from the Villa de Teguise football field, and a Eucharist was celebrated at the Ermita de las Nieves (Chapel of the Snows) around 6:00 p.m.

To unify the image of the pilgrims, this year the Department of Culture put 500 rosemary sticks on sale, at a price of 2 euros per unit. In this way, most of the pilgrims could be seen with the typical stick that is practically part of the traditional clothing.

Canarian Enyesque

During the pilgrimage, one of the carts specially decorated by the Town Hall offered the typical Canarian 'enyesque' based on cheese, 'pejines' (small fried fish), 'roscas' (doughnuts), local wine, and 'gofio' (Canarian roasted grain flour). A complete pilgrimage menu that the residents of the town and the hundreds of people who came to the famous pilgrimage were able to enjoy.

Once on the mountain, all the island parishioners presented their offerings to the Virgin, a moment that was musically enlivened by three folk groups from the municipality.
