The number of vehicles in La Graciosa has been increasing in recent years to exceed 300, a figure that is clearly exaggerated for such a small territory. The current Councilor for Police of Teguise, Ginés González, announced in an interview this Wednesday on Radio Lanzarote- Onda Cero that "vehicles will be regulated with an ordinance".

The councilor emphasizes that "currently there are almost 300 vehicles on the island, which are irregular." A situation that is not normal, given that according to the municipal ordinance, "there can only be one vehicle per dwelling", confirms González.

To solve the problem that has been worrying the citizens of the island for some years, "we have to do awareness work and remove the cars that are not regulated", in addition we will carry out "alcohol control campaigns, waste, etc.", informs the councilor. He assures that "we are going to apply the measures and the cars will be regularized", as a decision to end the complicated situation.

An initiative that aims to ensure that "residents have that priority before people who are passing through", confirms González. The councilor remarks that "we know it is not to the liking of many, but it is what has to be done."

In addition, he anticipates that there will be "a meeting with the residents of the island in the next plenary session in La Graciosa" so that citizens can "discuss any issue that concerns them", he says.
