Four educational centers in Lanzarote have been awarded in the Cinedfest 5 contest, in which more than 500 schoolchildren from the islands have participated. IES Yaiza won the award for best secondary school poster thanks to El cambiazo, while the award for best Primary School Horror short film went to "Éxodo", from CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo.
For its part, the IES de Tías won the award for best High School Horror short film with the work "Truth or Remorse" and the best Primary School Comedy short film went to "One day, normal?", from CEIP Nieves Toledo.
The Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, Soledad Monzón, was in charge of announcing to the 544 attendees of the gala that "Belca", from CIFP César Manrique, was valued by the jury as the film that best captured the spirit of the Educational Festival of the Canary Islands. Monzón thanked "the involvement of all the students and teachers who have participated in the audiovisual training offered by the festival throughout the course, visualizing the issues that most concern our students".
As for the Distribution award, which is awarded by Digital 104, it went to "Rainy Days", from CIFP César Manrique, which will mean its distribution in the international film festival circuit.
The morning gala was presented by student Jayro Dorta González, from IES La Guancha (Audiovisual Production and Show module) and student Kely Uriarte Trujillo, from CIFP César Manrique (RAE module), representatives of the more than 5,000 students from the seven islands who participated in Cinedfest 5.
