Fernando Guadalupe, a young cook from La Graciosa, was the winner of the seventh edition of the Canary Islands Young Chefs Championship 2022, a gastronomic event organized by the Tenerife Trade Fair Institution (IFTSAU) and the company InterIdeas.
The contest took place last Wednesday at the Tenerife Trade Fair Center and had five participants in addition to their respective assistants.
Guadalupe is a Hecansa student and won the Gold medal after preparing a dish in front of the public with ingredients from a surprise box containing a selection of local products with which they had to prepare the dish. Gara Morales became the second classified and Oliver Ferrera the best assistant.
The grand prize was decided by a single jury, which took into account aspects such as food hygiene, presentation and the ability of the participants.
Participation in this type of experience is part of Hecansa's training proposal. In this way, they seek to create opportunities for students to be publicly recognized and demonstrate their qualities and skills. This is a way to project their professional careers and bring them closer to the world of work.
