Haría has lost this Monday a well-known resident of the municipality, José Domingo Pérez Núñez, who, in addition to being a teacher, was a councilor of the City Council in two legislatures and also Councilor for Agriculture, Education, Sports and Works in the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
He currently belonged to the Order of the Canarian Puppy, in which he was president of the Council of Honorary Teachers, according to the website historiadeharia.com.
José Domingo Pérez taught classes in different centers, both in Gran Canaria and in Lanzarote, where he was director for 12 years of the Haría School residence. He was also a teacher at the municipality's school and institute and a Physical Education teacher at the Blas Cabrera Institute in Arrecife, and taught classes at the Acedemia de Haría, in the Literacy campaign and at the Colegio Libre Adoptado de Haría.
In addition, he was an athletics monitor, handball and basketball coach, and a Canarian wrestling coach and referee.
Very active in the social life of the municipality, José Domingo Pérez was also president for three years of the Club de Cultura y Recreo “Amigos de Haría”.
