The operations at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport were affected this Sunday, November 16, due to the presence of low clouds that limited visibility during the final approach phase. As reported by the @controladores aéreos collective on their social media, several crews were unable to establish visual contact with the runway, a condition essential for completing a safe landing.
Faced with this situation, various aborted maneuvers and diversions to alternative airports were recorded, following established safety procedures. Among the affected flights were an EasyJet from Newcastle, a Jet2.com from Birmingham, a TUI from London, and a Canaryfly that was flying from Gran Canaria
The controllers emphasized that these decisions are always made under the principle of "#SafetyFirst," recalling that operational safety is a priority over any incident arising from adverse weather conditions.
