Puertos Canarios has defined its strategic framework 2026-2030 with the purpose of consolidating a port network that is more efficient, safe, sustainable and linked to the economic and social development of the archipelago. The document sets the roadmap for the management of 52 ports and maritime and port facilities of regional ownership, including 17 ports of general interest. Among them are the Ports of Órzola, Caleta de Sebo, La Tiñosa and Playa Blanca

The planning is structured around four main pillars: economic sustainability, environmental sustainability, social sustainability, and improvement of internal management. Overall, the framework includes 19 general objectives, 57 specific objectives, 227 actions, and 150 monitoring indicators for the period 2026-2030.

The plan starts from the weight that the port network has in the daily life of the Canary Islands. Between 2019 and 2024, the facilities of Puertos Canarios mobilized 28,116,337 passengers and, in 2024 alone, they exceeded 5.5 million. Furthermore, the entity's net business figure reached 16.35 million euros in 2024, reflecting a sustained evolution of activity.

The new framework focuses on improving infrastructure, modernizing services, port-environment integration, digitalization, and advancing towards the Smart EcoPorts model. It also incorporates measures to strengthen the workforce, security, transparency, and coordination with other administrations and groups.

With this roadmap, Puertos Canarios seeks to consolidate ports that are more useful for citizens, better prepared to respond to the needs of inter-island connectivity, and more capable of generating economic activity, employment, and opportunities linked to the blue economy.
