CCOO has joined the collection of signatures launched by a platform of citizens "for decent housing in Lanzarote" to urge the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo and the town councils to seek "immediate solutions to the lack of rental housing" on the island, "considering the housing problem as a priority in their actions".

"As this platform rightly points out, access to rental housing in Lanzarote is becoming the nightmare of many families in precarious situations or not," says CCOO, from where they point out that "the lack of housing is worsening the economic situation of many workers who not only have low wages, but also have to face very high rents due to the lack of long-term rental housing."

"This situation is further impoverishing the working class, which is seeing its purchasing power increasingly diminished," they add. The union also expresses its "concern" about "families without income who are suffering evictions without an alternative housing solution."

CCOO points out that they will contribute their "grain of sand" by collecting signatures at their union headquarters, as well as in the centers where they have legal representation of the workers, thus joining the request of the platform 'For decent housing in Lanzarote' to urge the Government "to take the appropriate measures to guarantee this right on the island of Lanzarote."
