The Beaches Department of the Arrecife City Council has raised the red flag on El Reducto beach this Friday at noon. The City Council has adopted this measure as a preventive measure after it was requested by Public Health of the Canary Islands Government.

The City Council has activated the established protocol and bathing is not recommended on this capital beach. "The notices will be maintained until the next report from the Lanzarote Public Health Area is received," the press release highlighted.

The capital's council has pointed out that there is an underwater emissary in the area, which is under the responsibility of the "Consortium and Canal Gestión", as indicated by the City Council in a statement. Thus, the sanitary samples were taken this past Thursday, a day in which different sanitation networks were flooded, due to the rains that the Garoé storm left in the capital.

Finally, Arrecife has pointed out the responsibility of Canal Gestión Lanzarote, an organization that has been assigned the powers in the maintenance of the sanitation network of the capital, like other municipalities of Lanzarote. At the same time, it has indicated that the Water Consortium oversees compliance with this maintenance and cleaning of the entire network.
