Amaira Cedrés, 34 years old, has returned to the island without a prize, after having participated representing Lanzarote in "Mrs Canarias", a beauty contest for mature women. "I didn't get any title, but the experience was very beautiful," she explained.

Cedrés had signed up for the "Mrs Lanzarote" contest last summer and passed the casting to become the new representative of the beauty of Lanzarote. She had previously participated in other beauty contests. She even won the title of Queen of the San Ginés Festivities in 1997, Miss Photogenia Revista "El Reportero" in 1998 and Queen of the Carnival of Lanzarote in 1999.

Amaira Cedrés wanted to repeat the experience of getting on a catwalk, after being a mother of two children. She achieved it in this contest, which was held on Saturday on the Isla de Mar terrace, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in which she competed against two candidates from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and five from Tenerife.

Among the members of the jury were the designer Oswaldo Machín and the current representative of Spanish beauty Martina Fulgueira, an economist and civil servant by profession who also lives in Lanzarote and who last year brought two titles from the "Mrs Europe" contest, held in Odessa, Ukraine.

Amaira Cedrés, sponsored by El Fiestón de Lanzarote, did not occupy a position in the classification but, according to the organization, "her style and elegance on the catwalk" was commented on. The competition was very close and finally the winner of the night was Miriam Cruz, for the island of Tenerife. Yaiza Rueda was distinguished as first lady and Azahara Sánchez as second.

According to the organization, the celebration of a contest in Lanzarote before the end of the year is not ruled out, aimed at all those women interested in living the experience and demonstrating that beauty has no age. Amaira Cedrés does not rule out running again and wants to thank her sponsor for her "support and trust".
