The Association of People with Disabilities of Lanzarote (Adislan) presented the new communication tools with
which it intends to become more accessible to members and users and, at the same
time, to publicize its work.
The entity wanted to have an instrument to show the
society and the community in general the active role they can have
people with disabilities, if the environment is able to see the
person and treat them as equal, leaving aside the disability.
The event, held in the Historical Archive of Arrecife, was attended by
the president of the Association, María Dolores Novas,
members of the Board of Directors, the directors Ángeles Pérez, Carlota de
León and Mónica Hernández, and the councilors of Social Services and
Culture of the capital's City Council, Ascensión Toledo and Eva de Anta,
together with a group of Adislan members.
The main novelty is the design of a website that incorporates
sections for members, information for media
communication, projects, photo album and access to social networks,
Facebook, Twitter, etc., among others. As indicated by its manager,
Armando Acuña, from the company Solucionet, "the management of the site is
simple and easy to manage and the potential for distribution and
replication of content, enormous".
"The website facilitates and supports social inclusion
social, since it is a source of information, training, reflection and
above all, it is a window through which we can learn and observe that by offering support and opportunities to people with disabilities, they are not so different from us", argued Mónica Hernández.
Also the logo, the work of the creator Fernando Barbarín, has been
adapted "to the new times". "But although the design has varied,
we wanted to maintain the colors, in homage to a past of many decades that we want to value", declared María Dolores Novas.
The association itself has changed its name, by incorporating the
term "people". "The human factor is essential in our
task, aimed at normalizing the lives of those who make up
this group", added the president.
An "exemplary" group
Along with these tools, Adislan has prepared a series of brochures on paper with specific content about the Association, support for
families, the employment center or the child development center and
early care.
The Councilor for Social Services, Ascensión Toledo, highlighted the
work of the entity, since it was founded by a group of parents
mothers in 1963. "The dedication, effort and work in
all levels of reality, children, training, work, etc.,
make Adislan an exemplary group, which should be supported by the
administrations", he pointed out.
For her part, the head of Culture and Historical Archive, Eva de
Anta, expressed her confidence that the new information and dissemination materials
that the Association has will serve for the deserved recognition of
their task by the whole society.
