Dampness. Bad smell. Cracks in the walls. Presence of cockroaches and rats. These are some of the facts denounced by Mariano Villalón, a resident of Doctor Ruperto González Negrín street, number 16, in Arrecife, who claims to live in "unsanitary" conditions, without the administration in charge of the community in this building "doing anything". This citizen of the capital of Lanzarote has stationed himself at the door of the building, in order to solve his problem.

Mariano Villalón points out that "the problems of this building come from top to bottom". First of all, "we have problems with humidity, due to lack of waterproofing. Every time it rains my house floods and I have to put a bucket on my bed because it gets wet," he says. In addition, "the walls are cracked".

Also, this neighbor who lives with his mother, both with disabilities, relates that the building "is unadapted", in addition to "the intercom does not work and the water motor fails frequently leaving us without water until it starts again". To this we must add "that the water is paid at industrial prices for years, because a permit to individualize the meters is not obtained, so we pay almost triple its value for the water".

However, the biggest problem they have in the house is "the presence of rats, cockroaches and worms, in a building in which, in addition to people living, which is already something to take into account, sanitary work is carried out, since there is a dental prosthesis laboratory and a restaurant". In addition, "there are horrible smells," he adds.

Faced with this situation, Mariano Villalón has staged a sit-in at the door of the building, so that the authorities to whom it corresponds can take action on the matter and put an end to their problems and that "these people from Afisca", who have not wanted to make statements about it, "work, that's what we pay them for" since, according to him, he has contacted them on several occasions requesting an extraordinary meeting, "always giving me good words, but without that meeting ever arriving," he concludes.
