The Salvamar Al Nair has rescued 42 occupants of a small boat, all of them Maghrebi and including a child, after the boat was detected by the SIVE about 32 kilometers from Lanzarote. In addition, one of its passengers requested assistance in a call to 112.
The echo was detected by the SIVE at around 11:35 a.m., when the boat was about 31.5 kilometers northeast of the capital of Lanzarote, according to a spokesman for Maritime Rescue informed Efe.
Minutes later, 112 contacted the Coordination Center for Salvage in Las Palmas and informed them that they had received a call from a boat that was in the vicinity of Lanzarote.
The occupants of the boat, which is presumably one that was being searched for after it was known to have departed this Sunday from the coast of Tan Tan, provided a number that did not respond and finally the Salvamar Al Nair was mobilized, which went to the area and spotted the boat at about 1:25 p.m.
That is how its crew rescued the 42 people on board: 38 adult men, three women and a child.
With all the rescued on board, the Al Nair has set course for the commercial dock of Arrecife, where its arrival was scheduled for around 2:15 p.m.
