Two tourists wrote their names on one of the slopes of Montaña Amarilla in La Graciosa this past weekend. Specifically, this Sunday, November 3rd.
In some images that La Voz has been able to access, you can see how two young people, according to witnesses, of Italian origin, began to engrave their names with stone on one of the slopes of the mountain, ignoring the warnings.
"Mattía" and "Aitor" were the engravings they left on the mountain, despite the alert from passers-by. "Despite the whistles and indications, they did not go down until they finished the graffiti," highlights the author of the images.
It is not the first time that an environmental attack has occurred on the island of La Graciosa. As La Voz published, tourists have been engraving their names on the small coves located between the town of Caleta de Sebo and La Laguna de Bahía del Salado. Until now, dozens of names have been engraved on a wall composed of erosion material and the formation of dunes that are located in front of the coast.
It should be remembered that La Graciosa is an island of public property in its majority, except for the land that belongs to the local population. In addition, it has different forms of protection and is part of the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park and the Lanzarote Biosphere Reserve. In addition, it is a Place of Scientific Interest and a Special Protection Area for Birds, so this type of action is prohibited.
