The Canary Islands are a safe space for the angel shark, a species in critical danger of extinction and a victim of commercial fishing. So much so that a specimen of angelote has been caught a few meters from the shore on the tourist beach of El Jablillo, in Costa Teguise.
This animal uses a very effective method to go unnoticed: it hides in the sandy seabed and pounces on the sand until it is completely covered. This same process has been captured by the divers of the Native Diving club, who work in the surroundings of this beach.
In the images that the club has shared through its social networks, you can see how an example of angelote swims early in the morning along the coast of El Jablillo. It is, according to Native Diving, one of the "pleasant surprises" that you can find when going early to the diving school.
This shark is harmless, but it is advised not to disturb it.
