The San Bartolomé City Council points out that it "renews its impulse to integral attention to women with the launch of the third edition of the 'Advisory Service' and the second of the 'Meeting Place Project'," within the framework of the "firm commitment" that the municipal government has been maintaining in favor of equality.

Isidro Pérez and the Councilor for Equality and Youth, Mónica de León, visited the facilities of the meeting place this Thursday, where this service is developed by the Social and Cultural Association for Women 'Mararía'. Pérez values the "importance of comprehensive care as an instrument to reduce the risk of social exclusion and any type of discrimination, as well as its function in psychological, legal and social advice." He also highlights the objective of "raising awareness and sensitizing against gender violence."

"With the aim of raising awareness and sensitizing against gender violence"

The mayor emphasizes that San Bartolomé's "commitment" to real equality between women and men is “unequivocal” and anticipates that the City Council "will continue to promote and favor all kinds of initiatives" that advance in this direction. “We are not going to allow a single step back in inclusion, feminism or conquered rights”, he warns.

Prevention and awareness

For her part, Mónica de León points out that the advisory service "renews its activity to offer its beneficiaries (women in vulnerable situations) psychological, labor and legal guidance, as well as prevention and awareness activities through workshops and information spaces."

Since its launch in May 2021, 200 consultancies have been managed: 137 of a psychological nature, 42 in labor matters and 21 of a legal nature. During this period, sixty files have been registered. Regarding the meeting place, the councilor indicates that "it has been maintained since August 2022, now entering its second edition." An edition that hosts workshops for health, digital literacy, art, education for equality or cultural visits, among other activities. During this year, 133 activities have been carried out, each with an average of fifteen users.

De León recalls that the activities "are free and registration is necessary", it can be done through the email sbtme.ascmararia@gmail.com or the telephone 682 202 709.
