Famara beach is among the ten finalists for the Best Beach in Spain, an award given by the magazine specializing in travel and lifestyle, Condé Nast Traveler.
The publication highlights the unique enclave for surf lovers of this beach. "Located in a humble fishing village, the water current created by the separation between Lanzarote and the islets of the Chinijo archipelago, make this six-kilometer-long beach the perfect setting for water sports, hence in the town of Caleta de Famara there are important surf and kitesurf schools. In addition, in 2020 it was awarded as one of the beaches with the best sunsets in Spain, which makes it a unique location in the country."
In Lanzarote, Papagayo was one of the beaches chosen in 2019, so, if Famara were to win, it would be the second year that a beach on the island would achieve this award.
Readers began voting last June 5 for their favorite beach among the four selected by the team of CN Traveler specialists within each Autonomous Community. Now, the finalist beaches (one per Autonomous Community) compete for the gold medal.
Among the ten finalist beaches for the best beach in Spain 2024 are: Playa de Valdevaqueros (Cádiz), Cala Saona (Formentera), Playa de Los Locos (Cantabria), Cala Fonda (Tarragona), Playa Norte (Castellón), Playa de Las Catedrales (Lugo), Playa de Zarautz (Guipúzcoa), Playa de Poo (Llanes) and Playa de Calblanque (Cartagena).
Which will be the star of 2024?. This year, Condé Nast Traveler invites readers and travelers to participate in the voting to select the winner. Readers will decide in votes that will last until 11:59 p.m. on June 23. In addition, those who dare to act as judges will automatically enter the draw for a prize from Roadsurfer: a voucher of 300 euros to redeem in the reservation of a camper from the company.
