UD Lanzarote has expressed its condolences for the passing of Bernardo Hernández Pérez, known in football as "Nardo". The former player, who passed away this Tuesday late in the afternoon, was a player for the first red-and-white team in the 1990s. The player from Gran Canaria left a great memory on the island, and currently participated in some of the initiatives carried out by the veterans of UD Lanzarote.

The president of UD Lanzarote, Juan Carlos Albuixech, has conveyed his deepest condolences to the family of Bernardo Hernández Pérez “Nardo”, and extends his condolences to friends and relatives, supporting them in everything possible in these difficult moments of life.

Nardo defended the UD Lanzarote shirt in the early years of the 90s, leaving a pleasant memory among all the teammates who shared the locker room with him. In the Canary Islands, he was a player for Angostura, Estrella CF, Granadilla, CD Puerto Cruz or Unión Pedro Hidalgo, among others. And also, on the island of Lanzarote he also played for CD Teguise and Torrelavega.

Recently, he participated in some of the initiatives carried out by the veterans of UD Lanzarote, taking part, for example, in the tribute that was paid to Agustín Hernández. For this reason, the veterans of the red-and-white team, with whom he had a good relationship, also wanted to convey their deepest condolences to the family of Bernardo Hernández.

"A sad day full of pain for the loss of one of the people who was part of the history of UD Lanzarote", the club said in a statement. Next Sunday, before the start of the match against UD Ibarra, a minute of silence will be observed in memory of Bernardo Hernández Pérez “Nardo”.
