A vehicle in which two young people were traveling suffered a shocking accident on Wednesday night, while making a prohibited overtaking at the entrance of Las Caletas. The event took place at 10:15 p.m., when the driver, who was driving towards Costa Teguise, overtook another car, right at the curve where the median begins at the height of Inalsa.

The vehicle collided with the median when trying to return to its lane after overtaking, which may have been the cause of the driver losing control and being thrown towards the wall of Insular de Aguas de Lanzarote.

In addition, before reaching the wall, the car hit the fence that protects the traffic light located at that same point. However, that could have helped cushion the blow. And it is that this first collision has diverted the trajectory of the vehicle and has avoided the frontal collision against the wall.

Despite the serious damage suffered by the car, which had the entire front end destroyed, in addition to other damage to the rear, the two occupants were able to get out on their own and without apparent injuries.

However, after a witness alerted 112, an ambulance arrived at the area and ended up attending to one of the young people, who apparently felt dizzy. Paramedics were in charge of taking him on a stretcher to the ambulance, although according to the first assessment he did not present serious injuries.

The Local Police also went to the scene and were in charge of instructing the corresponding proceedings.
