For two officers of the Local Police of Arrecife, the night of the Three Wise Men turned into a night of emergencies. And they had to go to the Valterra Health Center in the early morning of January 6 to be treated for the blows that, according to reports, had been inflicted on them by three individuals, whose home they had gone to after receiving complaints because they had the music too loud. For the detainees, the night also continued in front of the doctor because they had to be transferred to the health center, and then spend the rest of the night in police custody.
According to information provided by the Arrecife City Council, the agents were sent from the Police Station Central to a building on Teruel Street, to admonish the occupants of the house where, according to several neighbors, music was heard at a high volume. After ringing the doorbell several times, the agents managed to have a person open the door who they requested documentation from to sanction him for violating noise regulations.
According to the City Council, in response, the agents saw how the occupant of the house pounced on one of the police officers, punching him several times. The other agent then went to help his partner, when two other people came out of the house to join the attack.
Reinforcements equipped with riot gear had to go to the building and arrested the three aggressors, citizens of Peruvian nationality, after the Head of Service informed the Judge of the Court of Instruction of Guard number 7 of Arrecife.
According to the report of the assaulted agents, both "used at all times the minimum indispensable force to be able to reduce the three detainees", who also had to be treated at the Valterra Health Center before being transferred to police facilities.
