The National Police has confirmed the arrest of 10 people between September 26 and 30, as alleged perpetrators of several robberies committed in Arrecife. In most of the arrests, according to this body, the agents surprised the thieves "in fraganti".

The first of the services took place on the 26th, at around 00:30 hours, when J.A.C.Z., 21 years old, and J.J.S.M., 37 years old, were arrested. The arrested were trying to access a telephone shop, "for which they had to jump a fence, break the glass of one of the windows and try to knock down one of the access doors to the premises". At that moment the alarm was activated and the Arrecife Police Station was notified, so the assailants could be arrested while they were still at the scene.

Two days later, at around 07:30 hours, a call was received in the 091 Room of the Police Station in which neighbors alerted that loud knocks and noises were heard coming from a bar located on Argentina Street, so the agents moved to the place. Upon arrival, they found that the establishment had the door completely broken and the gate forced, although the perpetrators had fled.

The agents established a search device and discovered that another establishment in the area, specifically a florist, also had its entrance door completely broken. The police collected information from various witnesses, who were able to provide the physical description of the perpetrators, continuing with the search device and managing to locate two men and a woman in the vicinity, "who fully matched the descriptions provided."

When they were recognized by the witnesses, the three were arrested, responding to the initials: J.M.H.A., 21 years old, D.M.L.R., 24, and M.M.P.T., 18, all of Spanish nationality. According to the Police, "while the two men broke the doors and windows of access to the premises to steal in them, the girl was in charge of carrying out the surveillance and alert tasks."

Car theft and other crimes

The arrests continued on the 29th, when at about 11 p.m. the agents observed a vehicle that was driving backwards and with the lights off, "being pushed by an individual while another drove it towards Donantes de Sangre Street, where they hit a van that was parked there with the vehicle." At that moment the agents gave them the high, but both fled on foot. After reaching them and verifying that the vehicle was being stolen, the agents arrested A.H.V., 20 years old, and A.T.M.L., 25, both of Spanish nationality.

A day later, at about 02:00 hours, another couple, J.P.R., 29 years old, and M.Z.C., 20, both of Spanish nationality, were arrested. According to the Police, these people tried to enter a store selling consoles and electronic games by force, although they did not succeed because the alarm was activated and they fled the place. Later, when they were trying to access a house by knocking down the access door, they were surprised by the police officers who proceeded to arrest them.

In addition, on the 28th there was another arrest, although in this case for drug trafficking. It was at about 01:30 hours, when police officers were carrying out prevention work on drug trafficking and consumption, and observed an individual who aroused the suspicions of the police. According to the agents, "upon noticing the police presence, he tried to get rid of a bag he was carrying, trying to hide it under a vehicle, this maneuver being observed by the police, who proceeded to intercept and identify the author, recovering the aforementioned bag with nine "boliches", each containing a substance apparently cocaine, which yielded an approximate weight of nine grams. For these facts, D.A.M., 35 years old, and national of Guinea Bissau, was arrested.

All these services were carried out by the Radio Patrol Unit and the Operational Response Group, belonging to the Local Citizen Security Brigade of Arrecife.
