Agents of the Local Police of Yaiza arrested a 23-year-old Colombian man in Playa Blanca on Saturday night after being surprised "in a suspicious attitude" and fleeing with 22.9 grams of cocaine. The Local Police initiated the corresponding proceedings and the detainee was brought to justice for an alleged crime against public health.
The events occurred while the agents were patrolling on foot through a commercial area in the south of Lanzarote and observed "suspicious movements of the young man, who took a package in a difficult to access area".
According to the City Council, "when he was surprised he tried to evade the police pursuit by jumping over the roofs of the commercial establishments until, when he saw himself cornered, he chose to throw the package he was carrying." The Police verified the content of the same, resulting in cocaine with a weight of 22.9 grams.
