The Local Police of Arrecife has dismantled this week a drug consumption point in the area of the old salt flats of Puerto de Naos. This place was under surveillance by local agents, within the plan launched by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, to combat and close the properties destined for these uses.
It is the second point of this type that is dismantled by the Local Police in this space, near the port area of the capital of Lanzarote. In recent months, the Local Police has closed a dozen drug consumption points, located in different areas of the city, some of them in semi-abandoned buildings and others in occupied houses.
Parallel to this dismantling, during the morning of this Friday the mayor has given instructions to the municipal staff to remove the structures of wooden pallets that covered these old wells for extracting water from the sea for the salt flats of Puerto de Naos.
Undercover cars to combat drug use and sale
The Local Police of Arrecife has several undercover cars that carry out operations in several sensitive areas of the capital of Lanzarote to combat the sale and consumption of drugs, both in public spaces and in buildings used for these purposes. The Local Police of Arrecife appreciates the collaboration of citizens that has allowed the identification of these places, which are subjected to investigation and monitoring by local agents.
