The driver involved in the hit-and-run in which two people died this Thursday in Costa Teguise tested positive for the blood alcohol test carried out by the Local Police. This has been confirmed by the Police themselves in a statement. Furthermore, as sources close to the case have confirmed to La Voz, the driver also exceeded the permitted speed on that road, Avenida de Las Palmeras.
She is a 20-year-old girl who, although she has Italian nationality, is a resident of the municipality of Teguise, according to the same sources. The accident occurred on a pedestrian crossing on that street, near Los Molinos. The Teguise Local Police is in charge of carrying out the report of this accident "due to serious recklessness", the statement said. The information collected will be made available to the Court.
The two deceased are a man and a woman of Dutch nationality, between 65 and 70 years old. As a result of the impact, the man died at the scene, without the paramedics being able to do anything for his life. The woman, on the other hand, presented serious multiple contusions when the medical personnel arrived at the scene. She ended up dying minutes later upon arrival at the hospital, after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest from which they could not recover her. According to the Local Police in that statement, the agents, in collaboration with the Civil Guard, have already carried out the procedures with the Consulate of the Netherlands to communicate the deaths to the relatives of the deceased.
