The Civil Guard surprised a 35-year-old driver in Lanzarote who quadrupled the alcohol level. After that, the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard has initiated proceedings against the man, in which he is being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety.
The events occurred on June 3 at an alcohol and drug control at km 1.500 of the LZ-505 road, the road from Puerto del Carmen to Tías, where agents proceeded to give a car the high and required the driver to perform alcohol tests.
In the first test, the man threw a result of 1.04 mg/l and 1.14 mg/l in the second test, which is why he was informed of his investigation as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against Road Safety for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
Chapter IV of the current Penal Code typifies crimes against road safety and establishes penalties for exceeding the established alcohol level. Specifically, it states that anyone who drives a motor vehicle or moped under the influence of toxic drugs, narcotics, psychotropic substances or alcoholic beverages will be punished with a prison sentence of three to six months or a fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community from thirty-one to ninety days and, in any case, with the deprivation of the right to drive for a period of more than one and up to four years.
