The Civil Guard has opened police proceedings to "try to identify" the skipper of the boat that arrived on Monday morning at Playa Bastián, who will have to answer for a possible crime of reckless homicide, as seven of the immigrants who were traveling on this inflatable boat have died. In addition, according to the Civil Guard, the skipper would also have committed a crime against the rights of foreign citizens.
As of Monday afternoon, agents had not been able to confirm whether the skipper was among the immigrants who were located and detained on the beach, a total of 20, or whether he was able to flee upon reaching land.
"The statements of the people who were on board the boat will be fundamental," they specify from the Civil Guard, who are waiting to be able to take statements from all the occupants of the boat to try to identify the skipper. It should be remembered that after being located on the beach, four had to be referred to the hospital, one of them in critical condition.
