The Civil Guard found stolen objects in the car in which the two men who were arrested this Thursday in Arrecife were traveling after staging a police chase along Fajardo Street. Specifically, according to the Civil Guard, 400 US dollars in bills of various values and an electronic book were found, all related to a robbery perpetrated in the capital.
It must be remembered that the police chase, which took place between 10:15 and 10:25 a.m., began after two plainclothes civil guards identified a man inside a vehicle who had an arrest warrant for two theft crimes. These robberies, according to the Civil Guard, were committed in homes in the municipality of Teguise between October 21 and 28.
Thus, E.J.P.S. was arrested for these two theft crimes, as well as for attacking an agent of the authority by trying to run over the civil guards in his attempt to escape this Thursday and resisting and disobeying them, "who from the first moment identified themselves as civil guards." The man had already been arrested on previous occasions by these agents and has numerous police records, including for crimes against property. The co-pilot, with initials S.Y.A., of foreign nationality and 31 years old, was also arrested, in this case for resistance and disobedience "by actively opposing the arrest", as La Voz already reported.
The Civil Guard defends the actions of its agents
"The circumstances of the intervention of the Civil Guard agents were at all times in accordance with the police principles of congruence, opportunity and proportionality," they highlighted from the Civil Guard, stating that the agents "acted at all times with the necessary decision when avoiding both material and physical damage to third parties, taking into account the influx of other citizens in the area and the danger caused by both detainees driving the vehicle in question."
In this way, the Civil Guard defends the actions of its agents, which caused a great stir in Fajardo Street, since they had to take out their weapons to break the windows of the vehicle where the two men who were finally arrested were traveling with the butt of the same. And, in their flight, they pushed another vehicle that had stopped on the street with their car to try to escape.
The detainees were transferred to the Civil Guard barracks in Costa Teguise after their arrest "thanks to the collaboration of the Local Police and the National Police", they highlighted from the Civil Guard. And, the two civil guards had to go to the hospital after their performance, since they had "cuts on their hands and arms."
