The Civil Guard deploys an extensive operation in Haría to search for the missing shellfish gatherer

The Civil Guard has established an extensive search operation in the beach area of Las Cocinitas (Haría), on the island of Lanzarote, following the disappearance of Pepe Acuña, a native of Guatiza, 61 years old.

The complainant alerted the authorities on the afternoon of January 27, quickly initiating a search operation in the area. During the morning of this Tuesday, January 28, a relative formalizes the report of the disappearance in the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, communicating that the missing person had gone shellfishing since 3:30 PM, with no further news, having as the only information that he was going to the search area.

Immediately, after carrying out the appropriate procedures, the Civil Guard has established a search operation by land, sea, and air, carried out by different specialties of the Las Palmas Command.

This search operation is composed of the UCESIC of the Las Palmas Command, supported by the use of Drones, as well as the Maritime Service, a helicopter from the Air Unit of Fuerteventura, the Fiscal and Border Patrol, in addition to various Citizen Security Patrols of the third company of Lanzarote in collaboration with other security and emergency bodies.
