A 36-year-old man was arrested last Friday, the 9th, in the port of Playa Blanca, where he arrived with 205 grams of heroin. The arrested man, who is a native of Fuerteventura and has "numerous police records", has already been placed in provisional prison pending trial, by order of the Court that was on duty.

The arrest of J.D.M. was carried out by agents of the Civil Guard from the main post of Yaiza, who during the last holiday weekend reinforced controls on inter-island transport. In this way, during the afternoon of Friday, in a control and surveillance service at the dock, they identified a person who "aroused their suspicions", next to the staircase of the ferry that connects Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

As the Civil Guard explains in a statement, when approaching the suspect, the trained dog they have showed signs of the possible presence of drugs. For this reason, the agents asked him to check his hand luggage, finding inside a package with 20 plastic wrappers containing the 205 grams of heroin, so they proceeded to arrest him and bring him to justice for a crime against public health.

This arrest is in addition to the one registered just a few days before, on December 6, in the same port of Playa Blanca. In this case, the Civil Guard agents arrested a 45-year-old man who was carrying 1.2 kilos of cocaine in his luggage.
