La Graciosa relived this Thursday what was the first crime in its history, in which a 42-year-old man was killed last week, after being stabbed by another neighbor at the door of his house.

The alleged perpetrator of the death, who is in provisional prison for this reason, was transferred on Thursday morning to the eighth island to make a reconstruction of the events. Along with him, Judge César Romero Pamparacuatro and judicial and police officers traveled to La Graciosa in a Civil Guard patrol boat.

On their way to the eighth island, the patrol boat was surprised by the presence of a boat that apparently was in trouble, so they took its occupants to La Graciosa. From there, the immigrants were later transferred to Lanzarote and two of them have been arrested, according to the Civil Guard, since they also carried drugs in the boat.

Already at night, after the day of reconstruction of the events, the judge, the judicial officers and the members of the security forces, who were guarding the alleged perpetrator, returned to Lanzarote on a Líneas Romero boat, to the surprise and expectation of neighbors and tourists. "I didn't approach because it has affected me a lot. People here are devastated, but I imagine some would approach," said a neighbor.

The first crime on the island

The events occurred in the early hours of last Wednesday, when Gerardo R., 42 years old, died after being stabbed by another neighbor with scissors, identified as S.B.H., 48 years old, in the middle of the street and a few meters from his home

Neighbors' testimonies assured that these two men, natives of La Graciosa, had apparently had an argument inside the island's pizzeria, shortly before midnight. According to them, after the discussion they left the premises separately, with the apparent intention of returning to their homes, but they met again in an alley where, apparently, the alleged aggressor stabbed the victim several times with scissors. "He was waiting for him," the neighbors said.

Neighborhood sources indicated that the victim went on foot to his home, located a few meters away, where he alerted one of his children to ask for help. However, the victim died shortly after the health teams arrived due to the severity of the injuries.

Civil Guard agents then proceeded to arrest the alleged aggressor, whom the judge of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 5 of Arrecife, Cesar Romero Pamparacuatro, decided to send to prison.

The same neighborhood sources assured that the alleged aggressor has always been a "conflictive" man who had recently starred in several violent episodes. Among them, they cited "an attack on an employee of a commercial premises" or having "bitten the ear of a Civil Guard officer". "This was expected for some time," said the neighbors, who described the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing as a "violent man".
